PRF Hair Restoration in NYC. Slower Release, Longer Working Window.

From $85045 minNo downtime

PRF hair treatment uses platelet rich fibrin, a second generation platelet concentrate spun more gently from your own blood with nothing added. It sets as a soft matrix in the scalp and releases growth factors over days rather than hours. At Club 116 on Central Park South a doctor confirms the cause of your thinning first. Three sessions, four to six weeks apart, from $850.

What it is

What PRF Does That PRP Does Not, and What Neither Can Do.

Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is a concentrate of platelets, white cells and fibrin from your own blood, prepared without the anticoagulant used for PRP. The fibrin forms a soft scaffold that holds the platelets in place, so growth factors release over several days. It is used for early to moderate pattern hair loss in men and women. At Club 116 in Manhattan it costs from $850 a session.

Both PRP and PRF work on follicles that are miniaturizing, meaning they are shrinking and producing finer hair each cycle. The difference is timing. PRP delivers its growth factors quickly; PRF sets as a gel and keeps signalling the follicle for longer, which is why it costs a little more per visit. Neither revives a follicle that is already gone, and neither fixes shedding driven by iron, thyroid or hormones. That is why every plan here follows the same order: test first, keep what is alive with treatments like PRF, and replace what is gone with a transplant.

Who it is for

The same people PRP suits: men and women with a widening part, a softening hairline, a crown that shows under bright light, or hair that has lost its thickness. PRF is often chosen by people who travel and want each visit to work for as long as possible, and by people who want the most natural preparation available, since nothing is added to the blood at any stage. It is also used around a transplant to support the grafts and the hair between them.

Why do it here

A doctor reads your bloodwork and signs off on the plan before a session is booked. PRF is prepared in the room, on the day, from your own blood, and placed by a licensed clinician. Progress is measured with photographs under the same lighting at three and six months. Nobody here is on commission, and if the photographs show no change, the plan changes rather than continues.

What happens

Before, During and After.

Before
The consult

Scalp imaging shows whether your follicles are shrinking or already gone. Photographs give you a baseline. Bloodwork (thyroid, ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and hormones) rules out the causes PRF cannot treat. The doctor tells you which step you are on and whether PRF, PRP or something else is the right one. If you have already had the $350 hair consult, you go straight to treatment.

During · 45 min
In the room

A small blood draw, about the size of a routine lab test. It is spun at a lower speed than PRP, for a shorter time, with no anticoagulant in the tube. The result is a soft, yellowish gel. Your scalp is cleaned and numbed, and the PRF is placed with fine needles across the thinning areas. Most people describe pressure and a few pinches. Nothing about it shows when you leave.

After · no downtime
What to expect

Mild tenderness or pinkness in the scalp for a day or two. Because PRF sets as a gel, some people notice a little more fullness at the injection sites for a few hours. You can go back to work the same afternoon and wash your hair the next day.

When you see it

Shedding usually settles within six to eight weeks. Density builds from around three months. We photograph you at three and six months so the change is measured, not guessed. Maintenance sessions every six to twelve months keep the result, and PRF's longer release often means fewer of them.

Downtime and aftercare

Most people go straight back to their day. For twenty four hours, skip hot showers, hard training and styling products. Hold off on color or bleach for a week. Take acetaminophen rather than anti-inflammatories for any tenderness, since anti-inflammatories can blunt the platelet response. Anything specific to your case is written down at the consult.

Not for you if

You are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active scalp infection, a bleeding or platelet disorder, or take a blood thinner that has not been discussed with the doctor. Some medical conditions and some medicines rule out platelet treatments. PRF will not help hair loss that is fully scarred or where the follicles are gone; for those, the answer is a transplant. Your history and bloodwork catch these before anything is booked.

Questions

PRF Hair Treatment in NYC: Questions People Ask First.

How much does PRF hair treatment cost in NYC?

At Club 116 on Central Park South, a PRF scalp session is $850 and members pay $680. The price is published so you can compare it before you call anyone, and the exact figure is in writing before anything starts.

How many PRF sessions do I need for hair loss?

Three sessions, four to six weeks apart, is the starting course, the same as PRP. Most people then maintain the result with one session every six to twelve months. Photographs at three and six months decide whether the plan continues.

What is the difference between PRF and PRP for hair?

PRF is spun more slowly, with no anticoagulant, so it forms a fibrin gel that releases growth factors over days rather than hours. PRP is a liquid that acts faster and costs $100 less a session. Both treat the same problem, shrinking follicles that are still alive. The doctor recommends one or the other at the consult based on your scalp, your schedule and your budget.

Does PRF hair treatment hurt?

The scalp is numbed first. Most people feel pressure and a few quick pinches, then mild tenderness for a day. There is no downtime and nothing visible when you leave.

Is PRF good for female hair loss?

Yes. Women with a widening part or diffuse thinning are often good candidates, and PRF avoids the hormonal medicines some women cannot take. The consult checks ferritin, thyroid and hormones first, because these drive a large share of shedding in women.

Do I need the consult before PRF?

Yes. Hair loss has causes that no scalp treatment fixes, and the bloodwork finds them. The hair consult is $350, it is credited against your plan, and it commits you to nothing. You can also start with the $95 online doctor review.
